While most of you may be shopping for the lowest price on a brand, new Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus, I would advise to think a little different and find the best deal. All of the U.S. carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon have deals for S8 and S8 Plus this year but be aware, a lot of those deals involve the customer somehow being locked down to their carrier. Worst of all, the U.S. models aren’t the best anyways.
See video review here:
If you are on a GSM network like AT&T or T-Mobile, you can grab the international dual-SIM model (Galaxy S8 SM-G950FD or S8+ SM-G955FD), which allows you to use two SIM cards or one SIM card with one microSD card. Besides that, the international models also have Exynos processor instead of Qualcomm, which is the better version and will give you better performance and battery life. Also, Exynos models have unlocked bootloader, meaning users can easily root and install custom ROMs easily and update their own custom software.
Now, the international model prices are on average $100-200 cheaper on non-holidays and current prices are at $589 for Galaxy S8 or $619 for Galaxy S8+. Now, I do highly recommend eBay to grab these and you won’t have to worry about blacklisted phones since it is an international phone. I would avoid buying any U.S. models on eBay since there are many scammers who sell it and claim it lost few months later (actually happened to me).
Remember, these are 100% FULLY UNLOCKED, BRAND-NEW phones. I order all my international models on eBay and have had zero problems. Right now is a very good time to pick up S8 or S8+ for cheap. So consider these things as you may actually save more in the long run with unlocked phones anyways plus re-sale value of international models are higher. I would avoid Verizon models if possible as they have the lowest resale value.
Also, there is U.S. models that are FULLY UNLOCKED but these are NOT THE SAME as its international counterparts and have locked bootloaders. The U.S. models have model name ending in “U” such as “SM-G950U”. But the U.S. unlocked models are full GSM/CDMA phones, meaning you can use fully on Verizon and Sprint also. If you need it for Verizon or Sprint, check out the U.S. unlocked S8 model on sale here and S8+ model here.
